What to wear for your engagement session. repost from Oh Lovely Day

I have long been meaning to write something like this since I do get asked this quite a bit.
What should we wear for our engagement session?
My former bride, now friend and awesome wedding blogger Chandra just wrote this handy article. So now I dont need to . Check it out. I think it is great advice

Sample Albums: Leather Craftsmen, Willowbook, Couture Book and Press Printed Books

The biggest decision after the wedding and looking at all of the images is deciding on the presentation.. the wedding album.

I offer 4 different albums, all with a classic modern feel but with subtle differences between them all. I hope this post helps you with deciding what works best for you.

In this image is the Modern Square Book (the black album and red album with the balloons). The Leather Craftsmen (gray middle album) and Willowbook (burgundy album) Couture Book also below.

The Modern Square Album is a press printed book. Unlike a flush style album, press printed books are actual books printed on a thick fine art paper and bound as a hardcover book. The pages are not photographs but high quality digital printing that will last for countless years to come. Because of the thinner pages press printed books can have up to 45 pages, 90 sides and hold easily 200 images.  I still custom design each and every album. To keep with the modern feeling and art book look I tend to design with larger and fewer images per page.

The cover options for the Modern Book vary from all leather to a wraparound cover image. For this vibrant wedding I went with the red leather that wraps from the back over the spine on to part of the front cover. The size is 10×10 but available in other square sizes.

This album is approximately 75 pages (sides) and is 1 3/4″thick

The Paper is thicker than water color paper but does not tear or bend (unless forced)

Next is the Willowbook album. This is a flush style album with THICK pages. Each page is an actual photograph mounted on a thick page. These books are full archival and guaranteed to last a lifetime. This book is limited to 30 pages 60 sides. (approx 120 images) Willowbook is offered in vertical, horizontal or square.

LCalbum018 Sample Albums: Leather Craftsmen, Willowbook, Couture Book and Press Printed Books

This album is 8×12 in size and a whopping 2.3/4″ thick

LCalbum022 Sample Albums: Leather Craftsmen, Willowbook, Couture Book and Press Printed Books

Next is the Leather Craftsmen book. Also a flush style album with actual photographs as pages, mounted on a thinner base page. Because of the thinner base the Leather Craftsmen album can hold up to 45 pages (90 sides) Special touches of the Leather Craftsmen are the various cover options including imprinting on the spine as seen here. This album is 10×12.5″ and just under 2″ in thickness. It is bound with Japanese book cloth with an inset cover image. Leather Craftsmen are also guaranteed a lifetime.

The Couture Book

Another version of a press printed book.  Imagine having your own unique coffee table book of your wedding. Each book is a custom designed, handmade luxury art book. Standard size of 10×13 including 200 pages, custom cover options of colored Japanese linen, matching slip cover case.  Because of the high number of pages this album can easily hold 300 images. The best choice if you are having difficulty narrowing down your images.

This album comes with a slipcase with images and your choice of colored linen.

This album is 180 pages (sides) close to 2″ thick

One of the unique and special touches in this album is the vellum pages. I often use them for writing but images may be printed on them as well.

More cool ideas

I have decided to start posting some of the cool things I see in weddings here. So to start it off this is Angie and Mike’s guest book. It is a Jenga game that guests can take apart, sign, write meassages and put back in the box for them to enjoy later. I love Jenga and I love the idea.

Some cool new vendors I came across

So I went to a Knot networking night last week. I know how bad I am about networking when I spent the entire time talking to food people. Either that or you can tell where my interests lie.

One was The Fry Girl, she comes to parties and events and has a mini doughnut making machine. Let me just say YUM!!

The other woman I met, that I thought truly had a unique idea, was timree at timree.com. She does a bunch of different things, hand painted thank you cards and plates but what I thought was so cool was Live Event Painting. She comes to your wedding or event and literally paints a painting from what she sees. Here is what she was painting right there on the spot. What an awesome thing to have. (in addition to great photos)

FRENCH FOOD!!!!! Yum..

No pics of these ladies but because I am a huge francophile I was excited to meet the woman from Les 3 Sens (the 3 senses) they are an all french catering company. There isn’t a French dish I would turn down so I am dieing to taste them.

VIDEOGRAPHY:

Lastly I ran into my favorite videographer Isabel Gonzalez. We have worked together many times. I always love her work and she and her team are so easy to work with. If you don’t realize this sometimes photographers and videographers battle it out for positioning so it is key to have people that work with each other and I am always excited to have work along with me.
